Originally built in 1868 as the "St. James Hotel," much of the original design and style was inspired by French Second Empire architecture. The wedding cake trim and dome structure of the building pay tribute to its glorious origins as a luxury hotel destination to many prominent figures of the time. Today the building now comprises 193 units of affordable senior housing.
